Timpanogos storytelling starts Thursday for $10, plus free music in Orem

Timpanogos Storytelling Festival starts Thursday in Lehi. The $10 Sneak Peek evening gets you music at six and stories at 7:30, without buying a full festival pass.

Before that, Orem has a free James Taylor and Carole King tribute Wednesday. Springville’s art festival follows Friday and Saturday. We also have the Monday morning Payson fire update and a tri-tip dinner in American Fork.

Try Timpanogos Storytelling Festival for $10 Thursday

The festival runs Thursday through Saturday at Ashton Gardens. Thursday’s Sneak Peek starts with music at 6pm and storytelling at 7:30pm. All festival performances are at the gardens this year, including the evening shows normally held at the Show Barn.

The Peteetneet Fire near Payson held at 45 acres and reached 60% containment in Monday morning’s update. Crews worked along the perimeter overnight. Officials reported no closures or infrastructure impacts in that update.

UVU’s physician assistant program earns continued accreditation

UVU’s physician assistant program has advanced from provisional status to continued accreditation. The decision followed a February site visit and review of the program’s teaching and clinical training. Students also train at the Bingham Family Clinic, which provides free care to uninsured patients.

Hear Fire and Rain play Orem’s free concert series

Fire and Rain brings a James Taylor and Carole King tribute to City Center Park Wednesday. Orem’s farmers market runs the same evening, so you can make the concert part of a market stop.

Springville Art Festival brings artists, chalk art, music, and hands-on activities downtown Friday and Saturday. The festival spreads through Civic Center Park, Festival Street, and the Rivoli area.

BYU beat Utah Tech 63-7 Saturday to open the season 1-0. Freshman Legend Glasker scored three touchdowns, and the Cougars forced four turnovers. Arizona comes to LaVell Edwards Stadium this Saturday.

BYU women’s soccer gets a late equalizer

Sophie Sivulich scored in the 84th minute Saturday to draw BYU level with Oklahoma at 1-1. The Cougars are now 4-1-1. Their next match is an in-state trip to Utah State.

Orem’s fall cleanup starts next Monday

Orem’s cleanup dumpsters will be at Nielsen’s Grove Park Sep 14-19, then Palisade Park Sep 21-26. Residents can use either week. The city separates regular trash, green waste, and metal, and asks residents to keep those loads apart.

School clothing demand draws down a Springville closet

The Springville Revolving Closet is handling its busy back-to-school period, with clothing bins below their usual levels. It provides free clothes for newborns through 16-year-olds and currently fits in about 15 to 20 appointments a week. Families book a 15-minute visit through the closet’s posted availability.
