A free rooftop concert tonight, the rodeo's final night, and a movie under the stars
Plus the Y hike before the heat, wood-fired pizza off State Street, and the cave tour you have to reserve.
Good morning, Happy Valley.
It is the last Friday of June, and downtown Provo opens the weekend with a free show. The Rooftop Concert Series plays Center Street tonight, no ticket needed, and it is the easiest yes on the calendar.
From there the weekend stacks up: the Lehi rodeo's final night, a movie on the lawn at Ashton Gardens, and a sunrise hike up the Y before the heat. Here is the whole thing.

Worth it Rooftop Concert Series, downtown Provo
The free outdoor concert that built Provo's summer music scene is back on Center Street tonight. The Rooftop Concert Series runs an open-air show at Nu Skin Plaza, no ticket required, and June 26 is one of this season's confirmed dates. It is run by the original Rooftop crew with Provo City, not a venue show, so come for the night air and the downtown crowd.
Our take
An outdoor show, a downtown crowd, and zero cover charge is the best free night out in the valley this weekend. If you do one thing tonight, do this.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: Lineups and start time can shift. Confirm tonight's act and time at rooftopconcertseries.com or @rooftopconcerts before you head down.

Ground breaks on a Target-and-Life-Time district in north Lehi
Developers broke ground on The Shops at Sky View, a 97-acre mixed-use district just north of Timpanogos Highway in Lehi. The two anchors, a new Target and a new Life Time Fitness, are already going up, with the first phase due to open in 2027. Homes, offices, a hotel, and a run of restaurants round out the plan.
Utah City keeps rising on the Vineyard lakefront
The Utah City development on the Vineyard shore of Utah Lake keeps adding buildings, streets, and businesses on the old Geneva Steel land. It is one of the largest projects in the county, slowly turning the lakefront into a walkable district, and bringing more shops, housing, and traffic in the years ahead.

Rodeo
Worth it ๐ค Lehi Round-Up Rodeo, final night
The Lehi Round-Up closes its run with Saturday's performance, the last of four nights of bull riding, barrel racing, and roping at the rodeo grounds. The centerpiece of Lehi's biggest week of the year.
Our take
A proper small-town rodeo with the lights, the dirt, and the whole town in the stands. Closing night has the best energy of the week.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: Confirm the start time and grab tickets at lehirodeo.com; closing night sells well.

Details โ ๐ฅพ Hike of the Week
Pick of the week Battle Creek Falls, Pleasant Grove
A short, shaded uphill walk through Battle Creek Canyon ends at a 50-foot waterfall fed by a spring, so it runs hard even in late summer when the snowmelt is gone. Under a mile to the falls, with a use-trail that climbs up beside them if you want more.
Our take
The waterfall hike to do when everyone else is on the Y. Cool, shaded, and the falls run year-round, so it pays off even now. A genuine local favorite that stays off the postcard lists.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: The rocks by the falls are slick, so keep kids back from the edge. A trailhead rebuild can shift parking, so confirm access before you drive up.

Wood-fired pizza and seasonal small plates built around local farm ingredients, tucked off State Street in Orem. The menu shifts with what the farms are picking.

The grown-up dinner in the valley. A real date-night spot hiding off State Street, and the kitchen earns the trust to just order the special.

Worth it ๐ฌ Outdoor Movie on the lawn, Ashton Gardens, Lehi
Thanksgiving Point's Outdoor Movie Series shows a film on a big screen out on the Ashton Gardens lawn in Lehi.
Our take
A movie under the stars on a garden lawn is about as easy as a summer family night gets. Pack snacks, spread out, and let the kids run before the film starts.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: Movie title, start time, and any admission can change, so confirm on the event page before you load up the car.

An eclectic little museum mixing fossils, rocks and minerals, pioneer and Wild West history, and live animal shows on select days.

The kind of small museum that surprises kids. Fossils, gemstones, Wild West relics, and animals packed into one stop in downtown Lehi. A great rainy or too-hot afternoon.
