The Provo Recreation Center has an indoor playground, and so do the Orem Family Fitness Center, University Place mall and KidsTopia in Spanish Fork. Kangaroo Zoo in Pleasant Grove, Funrise in Cedar Hills, Jurassic Jungle in Lehi and The Big Green in Saratoga Springs are all north of Provo.
Provo's city Recreation Center on 500 North has a three-level indoor playground, set up for younger kids while older brothers and sisters are in swim lessons or sports leagues. Children must be supervised and wear socks, and shoes stay off the play structures. The city posts no age range or equipment list for it. Every person who walks in pays, parents and spectators included.
A play area for kids at University Place mall, at the north entrance just east of The Orchard. Inside are a small playground with slides, climbing walls and a ball pit, digital art pads, hands-on science stations and a reading nook with shelves of books, and the mall schedules puppet shows and craft workshops there. Outside are wooden tree houses, a log climbing structure and monkey bars in the trees. It is about 10 minutes from downtown Provo.
A two-level structure with three slides, three towers, enclosed skyways and climbing mazes, built for ages 2 to 12 and sturdy enough for a parent to step in. Kids 8 and under need an adult watching, and no food or drink is allowed. It is inside the city fitness center, so it fits a family already there for the pool or the gym.
Giant slides, ball pits, parkour, adventure bridges, tunnels and interactive walls, for ages 0 to 17, plus a toddler area for kids under 5. The posted rules ask kids to tie up long hair and empty their pockets before they climb. Punch passes cover repeat visits. From downtown Provo it is about 15 minutes south.
Inflatables fill a 15,000-square-foot room here, along with a ball pit obstacle course and a play structure with slides. There are arcade games and a concession bar for breaks. It is about 15 minutes north of downtown Provo.
A Utah-themed playground with ziplines, swings, a stomp pad and a ball pit, plus a soccer field and a basketball court indoors. On a 2-hour pass, one adult gets in free with each paying child, and Funrise also runs an Active Play Preschool for ages 3 to 5. The drive from downtown Provo is about 25 minutes.
Thanksgiving Point's play space is five stories tall, and its volcano slide drops five stories. Animatronic dinosaurs are part of it. Kids earn points on jungle challenges and trade them for prizes. Lehi is about 25 minutes north of downtown Provo.
Built for kids under 12, with a large play structure, a climbing area and The Arena, a bouncy sports court set up for basketball and soccer. Grown-ups get The Lookout, a lounge with couches, phone booths and a cafรฉ, so one parent can sit while the kids run. It is about 30 minutes from downtown Provo.
Three play structures sit inside places Provo and Orem families already go: the Provo Recreation Center, the Orem Family Fitness Center and the Kids Place at University Place mall. They suit an hour tied to swim lessons, a workout or a shopping run. KidsTopia and Kangaroo Zoo are the next ring out, and Funrise, Jurassic Jungle and The Big Green are far enough that you plan a morning around them.
Pick by age. For toddlers, choose a place with a separate little-kid zone: KidsTopia, Kangaroo Zoo, Jurassic Jungle's Junior Jurassic and The Big Green's Nest each have one. For ages 2 to 12 in one place, the Orem structure is built for that range, and KidsTopia lists ages 0 to 17. Jurassic Jungle sells timed tickets, so buy before you drive. KidsTopia, Kangaroo Zoo, Funrise and Jurassic Jungle each require a signed waiver and grip socks, so sign online where offered and pack socks.
